Paul Lensmeyer Future Leaders Scholarship Competition

Scholarship offers opportunity for those looking to work with the Hispanic community

November 23rd, 2015

MOLINE –The Greater Quad Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce proudly announces the Paul Lensmeyer Future Leaders Scholarship. The scholarship is made possible by a generous donation from Ascentra Credit Union to honor the legacy of their late CEO Paul Lensmeyer who created opportunities for Hispanic members and staff during his time at the credit union.

The scholarship provides two $500 awards to any dependents or employees of any Greater Quad Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce member.  The scholarship is open to any students looking to working with or to advance the Hispanic community.  One scholarship will be for students in high school planning that will be entering an accredited undergraduate or vocational program. Another scholarship will be for students 19 and over, considered non-traditional-aged or continuing education students and even advance degree programs.  "The Greater Quad Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce would like to thank Ascentra Credit Union and the late Paul Lensmeyer for their commitment to the empowerment of Hispanic youth in our community.”  said Lee Vasquez, Exceutive Director of the Greater QC Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.  "The Paul Lensmeyer Future Leaders Scholarship seeks to enhance opportunities for students as they continue with their educational endeavors.”

The scholarship entrants will be judged on a 500 word essay on the topic, "How do you encourage people to honor the uniqueness of each individual and their culture?”

Deadline for this scholarship will be March 1st, 2016.
